At Ranui Swanson we celebrate the power of sport to bring people together, build confidence, and create lifelong connections. March is Northern Region Football Women & Girls Month, and we’re proud to highlight a young athlete who embodies the spirit of dedication, community, and support—Nita Ngauma.
Playing in her first-ever football season with the 13th Grade Swans, Nita is no stranger to success on the field. Fresh off an incredible championship-winning season with the Waitakere Bears Softball Club (U13 Mixed Champions), she’s diving headfirst into football with the same passion and commitment that made her a standout in softball.
Before even stepping onto the pitch as a Swan, Nita showed her love for the game and her club by volunteering as a ball girl for our preseason ladies tournament. When asked why, her response was both heartwarming and hilarious:
“I am learning from the ladies playing the game… and I get a free drink and hot chips as a thank you!”
This is what sport is all about—learning from those who came before us, showing up for our teams, and sharing moments that make the journey so special. Nita’s values perfectly align with what we stand for as a club: “Come for the football, stay for the community.”
We can’t wait to see this sassy little pocket rocket take the field this season, and we know she’ll be just as loud on the sidelines, cheering on her little brother as he defends the goal as a keeper!
You’re amazing, Nita—keep inspiring us all!
